Dhanya Ravi, affectionately known as India's Glass Woman, defies the limitations imposed by her rare genetic condition, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a genetic bone disease, also known as the brittle bone disease.
With a passion for advocacy and inclusivity, she has become a prominent figure in the disability segment dedicating over a decade to uplifting and empowering differently-abled individuals. Despite facing over 200 broken bones due to this condition, Dhanya has emerged as a beacon of resilience and empowerment, inspiring countless individuals globally.
Through her role as an executive at EnAble India, Dhanya works tirelessly to promote inclusivity and accessibility in various spheres, including education, employment, and social responsibility.
Dhanya's advocacy extends beyond her professional endeavors; she actively mobilizes and sensitizes communities about rare diseases and disabilities, collaborating with nonprofit organizations in India and the USA.
She is the founder of the ‘Aasmaan Foundation Trust’, an organisation that is committed to creating a more inclusive society, advocating for policies that promote accessibility and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
In addition to her advocacy work, Dhanya volunteers her time to support individuals with visual impairments by providing audio-reading services.
Her appeal to the government for schemes promoting accessible transportation and increased employment opportunities underscores her commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive society for all.
